Geelong Comedy Festival Show Application 2025
Festival Dates: Thursday, 30th October - Sunday, 2nd November
Application Deadline: Monday 26th May
Below we’ve outlined a few things about the festival, please read it carefully before filling out your application.
About The Festival
The Geelong Comedy Festival is back for its third year in 2025, and we’re on the lookout for comedians and performers who want to be part of something exciting in regional Victoria.
We’re a curated festival based in the heart of Geelong, Victoria’s second-largest city with a population of over 250,000 people. Our goal is simple: to make comedy more accessible — for artists and audiences alike — by creating a platform that supports quality shows, fosters community, and brings fresh comedy to new crowds.
We work closely with a variety of local venues in the Geelong CBD, ranging from intimate 40-seaters to 200-capacity rooms. All venues are centrally located, and we work with artists to match shows to the right spaces. Whether you're touring a tried and tested show, a debut hour, or part of a sketch or improv crew — if it’s funny and you’re passionate, we want to hear from you.
We’re focused on building a festival that supports performers — not just with great venues, but with promotion, collaboration, and a growing local audience who are eager for more live comedy.
If you're keen to bring your show to Geelong and be part of a vibrant, growing comedy scene, we’d love you to apply.
Fees & Ticket Pricing
At the Geelong Comedy Festival, we believe artists should be able to stage their shows without the risk of going into debt.
To support this, we offer:
$0 Registration Fee
$0 Venue Hire Fee
Instead of charging flat fees, we operate on a 75/25 ticket sales split:
75% to the performer
25% to the festival
We suggest ticket prices between $25 and $35 to keep shows affordable and encourage audiences to attend multiple performances. Within this range, we believe artists have a great opportunity to present a fantastic show and make a profit.
If you'd prefer to set lower ticket prices or offer discounts, please note that the 75/25 split will still be calculated based on the minimum suggested ticket price of $25. This helps ensure pricing remains fair and sustainable for everyone involved.
What We Provide
All venues come fully equipped with seating, staging, and essential technical gear—this includes lighting, a microphone & stand, speakers, and aux cord connectivity.
Festival volunteers will be on hand to scan tickets, welcome your audience, and assist during your show.
We also provide a dedicated website listing and ticketing service for your show, managed through our official partner, Eventbrite or through Geelong Arts Centre’s ticketing system.
You’ll receive regular updates on your individual ticket sales both in the lead-up to and throughout the Festival.
What We Expect from You
Above all, we want you to put on a fantastic show and have a great time doing it! Packed audiences and positive vibes are always a bonus—so we do expect you to actively promote your show in the lead-up to and during the festival.
While the festival team will handle overall promotion of the Festival, the success of your individual show will largely depend on your own marketing efforts.
If your application is successful, we’ll need all the relevant details about your show to feature it in our online festival guide and to set up your ticketing page.
Please Note: Submitting an application does not guarantee a spot in the Geelong Comedy Festival. We carefully curate our program to select shows that best align with the spirit and vision of the festival.
This is not a first-come, first-served process—so we strongly encourage you to take your time and submit a thoughtful, well-detailed application.
You can expect to hear back after the application period closes on Monday, 26th May—no decisions will be made before this date.
